Welcome! This is a blog which will document the dance project “Thinking together physically - for a moving future” created and curated by Deborah Smith-Wicke.
We are a group of "SOZO visions in motion Contemporary Dance Studies" students who will accompany and document the process of the project. We will introduce the workshops and teachers, share impressions of the participants and our own reflections of the process through publishing articles, photos and videos.
The project is for young adults from Kassel and the surrounding area. It offers them the opportunity to gain dance experience and knowledge over a period of two months.
The participants will attend weekly dance workshops to explore different dance genres such as improvisation, movement research, composition, ballet, and contemporary dance. They will also learn about anatomy, dance history and rhythm. The project will end with a performance created by the participants with the support of the teachers.
Through dancing and working with their own body in different ways the participants will go on a journey of exploring otherness in order to appreciate and accept the diversity of the group.
The primary goal of the workshops is a physical confrontation with democratic values and openness to diversity.
We invite you to follow the process and dive into the different experiences of thinking together physically! Enjoy!
